Researchers at all career stages are invited to apply for the Merck Research Grants 2026 programme. The initiative supports ambitious, innovative research projects across a broad range of scientific disciplines and aims to foster collaboration between academia, research institutes and industry.
The programme is open to scientists affiliated with universities, research institutions and companies worldwide. Applications are welcomed in several priority research areas, including drug discovery, artificial intelligence for drug discovery, digital health, neuroscience, immunology, oncology, biotechnology, chemistry, green chemistry, advanced manufacturing and sustainable technologies, among others.
Successful projects may receive up to €500,000 per year for up to three years, depending on the scope and research area. The application process consists of two stages. During the first stage, applicants submit a non-confidential project proposal. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to develop a full proposal and discuss their ideas with Merck scientists during collaborative deep-dive workshops.
The submission deadline for the 2026 call is 31 August 2026.
