2026-02-24At Wroclaw Medical University, a “Compendium of Knowledge on Research Services” has been developed – a comprehensive document systematizing the principles for delivering and commercializing research and development services at the University. The publication was prepared by a UMW team, including the Centre for Technology Transfer, as part of building a coherent model of cooperation between science and the socio-economic environment.
The Compendium is addressed to academic staff, research teams and managers of R&D projects, as well as to doctoral candidates actively involved in research. Its aim is to demonstrate that research services constitute an integral element of UMW’s scientific activity and one of the key instruments for transferring knowledge, competencies and research infrastructure into economic and clinical practice.
An important element of the Compendium is the presentation of a standardized procedural pathway and the role of the Centre for Technology Transfer as the unit managing the service process. Thanks to this, research teams receive clear guidance on when and at what stage they should cooperate with us, and what formal, legal and organizational support we provide, adds Dr Eng. Agnieszka Kowalska, Research Services Coordinator at the CTT UMW.
The publication systematically defines research services carried out at Wroclaw Medical University, describes the principles of their qualification, pricing and implementation, and specifies the rights and obligations of service providers. Particular emphasis is placed on legal security, intellectual property protection, revenue sharing, and ensuring quality and predictability of the process – from the initial inquiry, through risk analysis and contract conclusion, to settlement and evaluation of the completed service.
The Compendium also reflects an ongoing systemic transformation at Wroclaw Medical University. The University is consistently developing a model of centralized management of research services, in which the Centre for Technology Transfer acts as the process operator, ensuring coherence, regulatory compliance and a professional standard of cooperation with external partners.
Such an approach allows researchers to focus on the quality and substantive value of their work, while strengthening the University’s position as a reliable B2B partner, concludes Dr Eng. Agnieszka Kowalska.
