Exchange to the US – Kosciuszko Foundation opens applications
2026-07-06Researchers with an outstanding record of scientific achievements are invited to apply for the JSPS Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan, a prestigious programme funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). The initiative supports international research collaboration by enabling overseas scientists to conduct research, deliver lectures and exchange expertise with leading research groups at Japanese universities and research institutions.
The programme offers two fellowship schemes:
- Short-term Fellowships – 14 to 60 days, intended for collaborative research, scientific discussions, lectures and networking.
- Long-term Fellowships – 2 to 10 months, supporting more extensive collaborative research projects.
JSPS provides comprehensive financial support, including round-trip airfare, a monthly maintenance allowance, overseas travel insurance, and a research support allowance of up to JPY 150,000 for eligible projects. Applications cover all fields of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
Applications must be submitted by a Japanese host institution through the JSPS Electronic Application System. The deadline for the FY2027 Long-term and Short-term (1st) call is 28 August 2026 (17:00 JST). Please note that host institutions may set earlier internal deadlines.
