About me:
I have been a research and teaching staff member at Wroclaw Medical University for many years. I began my scientific journey with my doctoral studies, which I conducted in the Department of Pharmacology at WMU. At the USK in the Department of Rheumatology and Internal Diseases, I gained my first clinical (specialization in internal medicine and then in rheumatology) and scientific experience. Currently, I am pursuing my passion for teaching and research in the Department of Pharmacology, where I research cell cultures and animal studies, with a primary focus on bone metabolism, diabetes mellitus, and toxicological studies. I am a specialist in family medicine and public health, as well as a certified psychodynamic psychotherapist. I work as a professor in the Department of Research Methodology at the Department of Nursing, Wroclaw Medical University, where I integrate clinical and psychotherapeutic approaches into the education of students and residents.
I have over 20 years of experience in conducting scientific projects, international teaching, and expert activities. I have served as Chair of the Primary Care and Risk Factor Management Section of the European Association of Cardiology (EAPC) and the EURIPA International Advisory Board. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC), Editor-in-Chief of the journal Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IF 2.1), and Associate Editor of BMC Geriatrics and BMC Family Practice.
As national coordinator, I lead Horizon and EU4Health-funded projects, including SP-EU, RAPHAEL, EUVABECO, and SAPIENCE, and participate in research collaborations within international consortia such as PURE, PREDEM, ATTENTIVE, and LESS in partnership with universities in Switzerland, the UK, and the Netherlands. I am also a reviewer for the European Commission and the NCBR and a member of the Interdisciplinary Team for Research Infrastructure.
I have experience teaching and lecturing at universities in Germany, Lithuania, and the USA (including the University of North Carolina Charlotte) and organizing international conferences (including six WONCA events and the annual EUROPA forums). I completed my MBA with distinction at Franklin University (Ohio, USA, 2023).

I am a 6th-year vascular surgery resident; in 2023, I defended my PhD thesis at my alma mater (Medical University of Silesia), and since March 2024, I have been working at USK in the Department of Vascular Surgery under the direction of Prof. Dariusz Janczak. Since March 2025, I have been a full-time teaching assistant in the above Department. In addition, I am a member of the main board of the Resident Section of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (EVST) and deputy chairman of the Young Surgeons Section of the Polish Society for Vascular Surgery. As part of my activities in the EVST, I co-founded a mentorship program for young residents (https://esvs.org/evst-training-centres-database-and-mentorship/career-development/). Additionally, I serve as the representative in Poland for the European Vascular Research Consortium (EVRC - https://eurovascresearch.com/). I have authored and co-authored several scientific articles. I am currently working on several more international research groups. I am a member of the committee preparing the guidelines of practice of the European Society for Vascular Surgery. I completed a 6-month scientific internship at the Department of Vascular Surgery in Regensburg in 2022, and since April of this year, I have been participating in an Aortic Fellowship Program at the Department of Vascular Surgery in Bern.

Prof. Piotr Dzięgiel, MD, PhD, is a medical doctor and pathomorphologist, Head of the Department of Human Morphology and Embryology, and Vice-Rector for Research at Wroclaw Medical University.He graduated with distinction from medical studies, earned his PhD for research on the effects of melatonin, and received his habilitation for work on metallothionein expression in various tumor types. He is the author or co-author of over 470 scientific publications, numerous academic textbooks, and six patents. His work has been cited over 5,000 times (H-index = 37). He has led numerous research projects funded by the NCN, NCBiR, EU programs, and POLPHARMA. He has completed international research internships in Berlin and Padua. He has supervised over 30 PhD theses. Prof. Dzi?giel has held leadership roles in several scientific bodies, including Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and President of the Polish Society for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry. He serves on the editorial boards of several national and international journals. He is a recipient of many prestigious awards, including the Gold Cross of Merit, the Innovation Leader Award, and the Golden Scalpel (2018 and 2024). As a mentor with extensive experience, he supports young researchers in shaping their scientific careers, developing independence, and navigating the academic and project-based research environment with confidence and purpose.

About Me:
As part of my research activities, I am involved in the development of biomaterials used in tissue engineering and novel drug delivery systems, among other areas. Our laboratory focuses on the properties and structure of such materials at the micro- and nano-scale, allowing us to influence their interaction with tissues and cells. Work in our laboratory encompasses elements of synthesis, characterization by spectral methods, polymer processing via electrospinning, analysis of biomaterials using electron microscopy, QCMD, and drug release studies employing high-performance liquid chromatography, among other techniques.
Scope of monitoring:
As my contribution to a potential student-mentor relationship, I am willing to involve the person concerned in the research process conducted in our laboratory. In the long term, it would be possible to spin off an element of the research that the person would carry out with greater independence. If the collaboration develops promisingly, I would be happy to assist in preparing grant applications that would enable the young scientist to develop their work further. To the extent possible for both parties involved, the collaboration would be based on regular weekly meetings. In these meetings, in addition to conducting laboratory work and discussing its theoretical underpinnings and assumptions, I provide a space for the individual concerned to ask questions and discuss the potential path forward.

In parallel, for over a year and a half, I have been working as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Immunology at Wroclaw Medical University. Additionally, I serve as the manager of the PRELUDIUM 24 project, which the National Science Centre funds. My research interests focus on biochemistry and molecular biology, with particular emphasis on cancer cell research. After completing my PhD, I plan to continue my research career, while also being keen to share my experience and support those who are just starting their research path.

I can support students and junior scientists in a wide range of laboratory work, from selecting appropriate research methods and planning experiments to writing protocols and working hands-on with cells (both cancerous and normal), preparing them for analysis, optimizing conditions, and executing experiments.
Substantive support
I am pleased to share my expertise in writing scientific publications (both original research and review articles), preparing grant proposals, and creating presentations and posters for scientific conferences.
Mental and motivational support
The path of a PhD student can sometimes be challenging - both substantively and emotionally. Scientific work requires a lot of commitment, is often associated with sacrifices, and can lead to frustration. From my own experience, I know how important it is at such times to have someone who not only offers advice but also supports, motivates, and understands. As a mentor, I would like to play just such a role - accompanying you on your scientific journey, sharing my experience, and also being a support in moments of doubt.

I am a pharmacist, practitioner, and teacher with 30 years of experience in the profession and 28 years of experience at the university level. I teach compulsory classes, lectures, and guest lectures. I have been promoting dissertations for many years with good results. Additionally, in the care of students in the pharmaceutical chemistry research club, I invite students to participate in research from their third year. I act as a year supervisor and help students organize their timetables as part of their courses of study. Together with students, I organize classes, workshops, and lectures as part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival and the University Open Day. I have completed the expert course of the tutor school.

She is a specialist in pediatrics, neonatology, and public health. I worked for many years as the Head of the Neonatology Department in the Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Sciences, and later in Perinatology and Gynaecology in Zabrze. Since 2012, I have been Head of the Department of Neonatology at the University Clinical Hospital in Wroc?aw. Main clinical and scientific interests - perinatal care, natural nutrition of newborns and infants, including patients treated in the NICU, variability of breast milk composition depending on perinatal maternal risk factors (preterm birth, hypertension, diabetes) and duration of lactation, respiratory failure and the need for treatment and monitoring in the NICU, non-invasive ventilation methods and diagnosis of intrauterine TORCH infections. Author and co-author of 300 published papers, editor of 5 monographs, including two textbooks. Promoter of 12 defended and 2 initiated doctoral theses, reviewer of 45 doctoral theses, as well as habilitation theses and professorial applications.

About Me:
I am an assistant professor at the Heart Institute, a cardiologist and researcher specializing in the treatment of acute heart failure. I received my medical degree in 2016 and my MD in 2020, with a focus on biomarkers and organ dysfunction in heart failure. I currently serve as Deputy Head of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Deputy Director of Science at the University Clinical Hospital's Heart Institute in Wrocław.
I am a recipient of scientific awards from, among others, the Polish Society of Cardiology and the Ministry of Education and Science and a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Senior Award 2023, which I pursued at Duke University. I have led and participated in numerous cardiovascular research projects, including large multi-center clinical trials.
I am actively involved in the European Society of Cardiology, where I serve as Chair of the Cardiovascular Disease Committee for 2024-2026. My main research interests include acute heart failure, treatment of stasis, renal function, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

I have been affiliated with the Wroclaw Medical University for almost 30 years. I work as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. I have supervised 21 master’s theses. I am actively involved in the peer review process for scientific journals, including the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Powders, Nutrients, and Molecules. Additionally, I serve as a Guest Editor for Pharmaceuticals. I also co-supervise the Cosmetic Chemistry Student Scientific Circle, affiliated with the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. The Circle has been actively engaged in organizing and supporting events such as the University Open Day, as well as co-organizing the scientific conference “Natural and Synthetic Compounds Used in Pharmacy and Cosmetology,” held in Wrocław on June 21, 2024. Since 2013, I have regularly participated in organizing educational activities as part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival (DFN). I have also conducted classes for the university’s patron school programs.
