13th Congress of the Polish medical diaspora

Wroclaw will host the 13th Congress of the Polish Medical Diaspora on 10–12 September 2026 under the theme “Medical Innovations and Patient Welfare.” The event will bring together Polish physicians, researchers and medical experts working in Poland and at leading academic and clinical centers around the world.

The Scientific Committee is chaired by Prof. Maria Siemionow from Chicago — a world-renowned microsurgeon and transplant specialist from the University of Illinois at Chicago, known for leading the team that performed the first near-total face transplant in the United States. The committee also includes distinguished experts such as Prof. Anna Dominiczak, Prof. Piotr Ponikowski, Prof. Waldemar Priebe, Prof. Mariusz Ratajczak and Prof. Zbigniew K. Wszołek.

The scientific program will cover a broad range of topics, including cardiology, oncology, surgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, dentistry, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence, robotics, space medicine and international scientific collaboration. The inaugural lecture, “Mission to Mars: Inter-Planetary Travel, Space Radiations and the Role of Physicians,” will be delivered by Prof. Robert Peter Gale from Imperial College London.

Special sessions dedicated to students and early-career physicians will focus on international career pathways, residency training, scientific publishing and grant applications. Participants will have an opportunity to hear from experts representing institutions such as the University of Oxford, Mayo Clinic, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.

Medical students are particularly encouraged to participate. A student ticket costs 50 PLN and includes access to lectures, coffee breaks and a networking event for young participants.

The congress will also feature a special lottery for students, with prizes including mentoring meetings with internationally experienced physicians, USMLE Step 1 books and other educational awards.
