Welcome to the Science Club at Wroclaw Medical University!

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of medical research, eager to share your discoveries, or looking to connect with fellow clinicians and scientists? Our club is designed just for you.

We meet every two weeks on Friday, bringing together students, researchers, and medical professionals from all disciplines. At each meeting, one of our members presents their latest research or a cutting-edge paper, sparking lively discussion and new ideas.

But that’s just the beginning. After the presentation, we dive into open discussion:

  • Need feedback on your ongoing project?
  • Facing a research obstacle you can’t quite solve?
  • Looking for collaborators with clinical or scientific expertise?

This is your space to troubleshoot, brainstorm, and build something new—together.

What makes our club unique is the blend of basic medical sciences and clinical insight. By keeping both communities in the same room, we foster practical, translational research and ensure our discoveries have real-world impact.

Beyond science, the club is a place to grow your professional network, meet future collaborators, and make friends who share your passion for innovation.

Join us! Whether you’re ready to present, eager to discuss, or just want to listen and learn, you’ll find a warm welcome and endless inspiration at every meeting.

No need to sign up – just subscribe to our calendar and check for the topics you like! Meetings take place in the seminary room of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology (2nd floor of the 2nd pharmacy building – see the Contact Tab). If you want to present your paper or ongoing research – fill the online form and we will set the meeting up for you!

First meeting of Science Club

Young Science discussion panel during XI International Students’ Scientific Conference of Young Biomedical Researchers 2025

During the conference of the Student Scientific Society, a Young Science discussion panel brought together students and early-career researchers keen to build their research careers. The session opened with a presentation of the Science Club—created under the Young Science program—where participants heard about regular workshops in statistics, grant writing, and research methodology, as well as the Cutting Edge Journal Club, a series of talks on the latest breakthroughs in medicine. Networking and team-building are central to the club, giving young scientists the chance to form project groups and compete for research funding.

The panel’s first segment explored the realities of embarking on a scientific career. Speakers recalled their first steps in research, the motivations that drew them in, and the obstacles they met early on. They offered practical advice on securing funding and choosing research topics, stressing the value of mentors and development programs. Key themes included coping with setbacks, the importance of perseverance and flexibility, and guidance for newcomers still seeking their research niche.

The second segment focused on forging collaborations—both local and international. Guests shared stories of their first research partnerships, outlined strategies for finding collaborators, and described common pitfalls in joint projects. They highlighted funding opportunities for team science, the power of networking at academic events, and the need for clear formal and informal agreements in day-to-day research. Discussion also turned to commercializing results and nurturing bold ideas within innovation-friendly environments.

Overall, the Young Science panel underscored how mutual inspiration, experience-sharing, and support are vital for young scientists. Initiatives like the Science Club and the Young Science program give students and early-career researchers a genuine opportunity to sharpen their skills, find valuable mentors, and launch collaborations that can lead to exciting scientific achievements.
