Scope of TTC Support in the Technology Transfer Process:

Researchers at Wroclaw Medical University can expect comprehensive support from the TTC team at every stage of the technology transfer process. This includes:

1. Identification and assessment of the commercial potential of Results:

  • Supporting researchers in identifying the outcomes of scientific research or development work and know-how (hereinafter "Results") with high implementation potential.
  • Conducting assessments of the market and commercial potential of reported Results, including analysis of their practical applicability and economic value generation.

2. Securing and managing intellectual property (IP) rights :

  • Coordination of activities related to obtaining legal protection for Results, including inventions, utility models, or industrial designs.
  • Making decisions regarding IP protection strategy, including international protection, based on commercial potential.
  • Ensuring cooperation of Creators with the TTC for obtaining legal protection and maintaining the confidentiality of Results.

3. Developing and implementing commercialization strategies :

  • Developing an individual Commercialization Plan for Results with confirmed potential, outlining the recommended commercialization path, profitability analysis, and legal protection options.
  • Implementing direct commercialization, consisting of selling Results or making them available through license, lease, or rental agreements.
  • Supporting indirect commercialization, mainly by establishing or acquiring shares/stakes in special purpose vehicles (spin-offs) for the purpose of implementing Results.

4. Technology marketing and active search for business partners :

  • Actively promoting university technologies among potential industrial partners, investors, and other entities interested in implementation.
  • Conducting activities aimed at identifying enterprises capable of effectively utilizing Results in business practice.

5. Negotiation and formal-legal support :

  • Conducting negotiations with partners interested in commercialization, ensuring the protection of the University's and Creators' interests.
  • Preparing draft license agreements, intellectual property rights sales agreements, investment agreements, and other documents necessary in the technology transfer process.

6. Support in the creation and development of spin-off companies: 

  • Offering comprehensive assistance in the process of establishing special purpose vehicles (spin-offs) by the University or with its participation.
  • Providing advisory services at the stage of business concept preparation, assistance in obtaining financing, and substantive support in the early phase of the company's development.

7. Monitoring and managing commercialization outcomes :

  • Supervising the implementation of concluded commercialization agreements and monitoring revenues due to the University and Creators from technology transfer.
  • Ensuring the distribution of funds from commercialization between the University and the Creator or Team of Creators, in accordance with the principles set out in the Regulations on Intellectual Property Management and Commercialization Principles.
