Scope of TTC support for start-up/spin-off ventures of academics:
Collaboration with TTC provides academics with access to comprehensive substantive, organisational and legal support at every stage of the development of their innovative idea:
Technology Transfer Centre

1. Commercialisation support:
- Assistance in assessing the market potential of the scientific project and the economic viability of the proposed solution, identifying opportunities and threats to the development of a given technology.
- The scientific employee receives support in the analysis of the market environment, identification of potential customers for their technology, and evaluation of competition.
- Support for the scientist in the precise description of the technology and in developing justifications necessary for preparing project application documentation.
- Assistance in the precise assessment of the commercialisation potential of the technology developed by the researcher.
- Provision of access to external resources and expertise, crucial for the proper and effective implementation of the technology transfer process.
- Support for the researcher in identifying partners for licensing or selling the technology, as well as in its further development.
- Support in establishing, managing, and supervising a special purpose company (spin-off), created by the University to commercialise the researcher's technology.
2. Intellectual property management, protection and legal support:
- Analysis of the state of the art and assessment of the patentability of the technological solution.
- Access to external resources and expertise necessary for effective protection and management of intellectual property, in accordance with the University’s regulations (including Patent Attorneys).
- Support to the researcher in the process of protecting their intellectual property, including efforts to obtain a patent.
- Legal support for technology transfer and commercialisation, including preparation of necessary procedures and agreements.
3. Support in obtaining funding:
- Assistance in the preparation of project application documentation, including refining the description of the proposed technological solutions.
- TTC support in the process of obtaining external funds for research, development, and innovation activities. TTC facilitates cooperation with Venture Capital funds, thanks to agreements concluded with selected entities, and actively supports the establishment of contacts and preparation for investor talks.
4. Dedicated mentoring for start-ups and spin-offs:
- Mentoring support for newly established start-ups and spin-offs. Mentors offer practical knowledge and advice in key areas of young business development, such as strategy, product development, sales, or business scaling.
5. Specialised support for innovation in the medical sector:

Taking into account the profile of the Medical University, the TTC, in collaboration with other units of the University, offers specialised support to academics, tailored to the specificities and challenges of the healthcare sector. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Advice on planning and preparation for clinical trials for new therapies or medical devices.
- Assistance in understanding and navigating through complex regulatory processes for medical devices and medicinal products (e.g. CE certification, registration procedures).
- Facilitate networking and collaboration with the University's clinical units and other partners in the medical sector.
6. Marketing and promotion support of technology and start-up:
- Support of an academic employee in effective promotion of their technology and future start-up or spin-off company.
- Promotion of scientific, research, development, and commercialisation achievements.
7. Networking and strategic partnerships:
- Support in building and networking of business contacts (S2B). Facilitates the establishment of cooperation with investment funds, including VC funds (through existing agreements), potential investors, and key innovation centres.
- Support in initiating strategic partnerships and forming consortia, especially for the joint implementation of R&D projects that can strengthen the position of a start-up.
Commercialisation process with TTC – the road to your own start-up:
Researchers at the Medical University of Wrocław who are considering commercialising their research results by setting up a start-up or spin-off company are encouraged to contact the Technology Transfer Centre directly. The TTC team will guide them through the various stages of this process. The cooperation starts with an initial analysis of the researcher's idea. The TTC then helps to secure their intellectual property and further supports them in the formalities related to the creation and development of the new business entity.
