2026-10-07The Department of Pharmaceutical Biology and Biotechnology at Wroclaw Medical University invites you to an open lecture by Prof. Marc Diederich from Seoul National University, South Korea, focusing on new directions in acute myeloid leukemia research.
The lecture, entitled “Mitochondria as a Therapeutic Target in Acute Myeloid Leukemia,” will take place on 29 September at 1:30 p.m. at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Wroclaw Medical University (room W4, 211 Borowska Street).
During the lecture, Prof. Diederich will discuss the role of mitochondria in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia and their potential as therapeutic targets in modern treatment strategies for hematological malignancies.
After the lecture, participants will have an opportunity to meet Prof. Diederich and discuss science and potential research collaboration.
About the speaker
Prof. Marc Diederich is a researcher specializing in the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer and inflammatory processes, with a particular focus on leukemia. His team investigates mechanisms regulating the expression of genes involved in cancer development and resistance to anticancer drugs.
His research interests also include cell death and differentiation, as well as the search for novel naturally derived compounds with anti-inflammatory and chemopreventive properties, including substances obtained from marine and plant sources.
Prof. Diederich is visiting Wroclaw Medical University as part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programme.
The lecture offers an opportunity to learn about recent developments in cancer biology and targeted therapies and to meet a scientist conducting internationally recognized research.
Everyone interested is welcome to attend.
When: 29 September 2026, 1:30 p.m.
