Science Club meeting with Nisa Karakulak
2025-09-03Zofia Łapińska – PhD student and junior researcher at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Wroclaw Medical University. Author of 19 publications in the field of experimental oncology and cell biology. She specializes in cell culture research, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. She has participated in projects on calcium electroporation, chemotherapy, and the influence of estradiol on ovarian cancer cells.
She will speak about “Calcium electroporation in ovarian cancer”. During the meeting, she will present the results of a study on the impact of 17β-estradiol (E2) on the effectiveness of electroporation-based therapies in ovarian cancer. The analysis included cancer and normal cells treated with cisplatin or calcium chloride, with and without electroporation. The results indicate that E2 enhances the cytotoxic effect, particularly in the case of calcium electroporation. These studies are groundbreaking, as they reveal a new potential for combining hormonal therapy with innovative cancer treatment methods.
