2025-11-14The TOP200 Weigl Program is a new initiative of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), designed to strengthen the position of Polish science on the international stage. The project focuses on fostering cooperation between Polish research institutions and leading scientific centres worldwide, while supporting the development of research talent. It offers project leaders stable employment and full academic independence, and provides research teams and host institutions with access to prestigious partnerships and opportunities to collaborate with distinguished international scholars.
The NAWA TOP200 Program targets researchers affiliated with universities ranked among the top 200 in the ARWU, QS and THE rankings. Attracting such outstanding scientists to Poland means not only the transfer of cutting-edge knowledge and methodologies, but also a significant boost to the research capacity of domestic institutions. Long-term employment and the ability to establish independent research groups support sustainable collaboration and help raise the quality of research conducted in Poland.
The program offers two application tracks: Junior Fellow, intended for early-career researchers, and Senior Fellow, aimed at experienced scholars with a strong publication record and documented leadership in research teams. Open to all scientific disciplines, TOP200 supports the development of a modern, competitive research ecosystem in Poland. It emphasises research excellence, societal and economic impact, and the strengthening of academic infrastructure that fosters the growth of early-career researchers.
The total budget of the program amounts to PLN 17 million. Applications can be submitted until 27 February 2026, and the results will be announced by 31 July 2026. Selected projects will be implemented between 2026 and 2032.
