Call for Applications: representatives of doctoral candidates in the General Council for Science and Higher Education
2025-11-07Three students from Wroclaw Medical University took part in the prestigious “Medical School of Your Future” program organized by the Polpharma Scientific Foundation, which aims to enhance the competencies of future doctors and pharmacists and support their scientific careers.

For the past three years, the initiative has brought together the most talented final-year medical students, selected based on their achievements, research, and university involvement. Among this year’s 30 participants was Andrzej Mrożek, a sixth-year medical student at Wroclaw Medical University, president of the Student Research Club of Vascular, General and Transplant Surgery, and coordinator of the “Student as a Doctor’s Assistant” program.
Over five days, under the guidance of experts, he learned how to apply for research grants, write papers, interpret data, and search medical databases. Workshops also covered modern transplantation, innovative surgical techniques, ultrasound diagnostics, and soft skills like patient communication and public speaking.
“Participation in ‘Medical School of Your Future’ is a tremendous opportunity to develop not only medical but also scientific and communication skills,” says Andrzej Mrożek. “Learning from top specialists and meeting inspiring students from across Poland broadens our perspective on medicine.”
Following the success of previous editions, the Foundation this year invited pharmacy students for the first time to promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Among the 25 participants were Katarzyna Ptak and Natalia Sobczak, fifth-year pharmacy students at Wroclaw Medical University. Natalia leads the Student Research Club of Biomedical Environmental Analysis, and Katarzyna is active in two other student research clubs.
“It was an extremely valuable and inspiring experience,” they said.

They attended lectures on the future of the pharmacy profession, pharmaceutical care, clinical trials, and legal aspects of pharmaceutical practice, as well as workshops on self-presentation, biological and biosimilar drugs, and new healthcare technologies. The students also visited the Polpharma Biologics plant in Duchnice.
One of the experts, Dr. Artur Owczarek from Wroclaw Medical University, gave a lecture on pharmacovigilance—ensuring the safety of pharmacotherapy.
“The program helped me see new possibilities for growth as a pharmacist,” says Natalia Sobczak. “It showed that pharmacists can truly shape the future and quality of healthcare.”
