2025-11-13On 12 November, Wroclaw Medical University hosted one of the key events of the nationwide technology and science tour “IGNIS – Poland Reaches for the Stars.” The university welcomed Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, project astronaut of the European Space Agency, who met with students, academic staff from Wrocław universities, and pupils from primary and secondary schools.
The event attracted a large audience interested in cutting-edge technologies and space research. Participants had the opportunity to hear presentations shedding light on behind-the-scenes work aboard the International Space Station (ISS), learn about examples of future-oriented technologies, and take part in discussions on the future of science. A particular highlight was the direct meeting with the Polish astronaut, who shared his experiences related to preparations for the IGNIS mission and Poland’s role in the European space programme.
Wrocław was the seventh stop on the tour, which includes a total of 17 visits to major Polish universities. The project—carried out by the Ministry of Development and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Space Agency, and the European Space Agency—is designed to inspire young people to pursue scientific and technical career paths and to showcase Poland’s growing significance in the space sector.
